PRINCIPAL OFFICERS OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE

By the Federal Polytechnic Act, the Management is responsibe for the day-to-day running of the Polytechnic. The Management Team of Federal Polytechnic Ede is made up of six distinct officers with different functions and responsibilities. The Rector of the Polytechnic is the Head of the Management Team and the Chief Executive of the Polytechnic. Members of the Management team of Federal Polytechnic Ede include:

  • The Rector,
  • Deputy Rector Academics,
  • Deputy Rector Administration,
  • Registrar,
  • Bursar and
  • Polytechnic Librarian

The Rector is the Chief Executive of the Polytechnic and is charged with responsibility for matters relating to the day-to-day management operations of the polytechnic. Only Chief Lecturers of the Polytechnic with over fiver years experience as a Chief Lecturer is qualified to apply for the position of the Rector. The President of the Federal Republic on the recommendation of the screening committee appoints the Rector for a four-year term which is renewable for another final and second term of four years subject to good performance.

The Deputy Rector Academics is charged with assisting the Rector in the performance of his academic related functions. The Deputy Rector Academics acts in the place of the Rector when the post of Rector is vacant or if the Rector is for any reason absent or unable to perform his functions as Rector. The Deputy Rector Academics is appointed by the Governing Council from among Chief Lecturers in the Polytechnic and serves a term of two years renewable for another final and second term.

The Deputy Rector Administration is charged with assisting the Rector in the performance of his administrative related functions. Like his counterpart, the Deputy Rector Admin can act in the place of the Rector when both the Deputy Rector Academics and the Rector are vacant or for any reason absent or unable to perform their functions. The Deputy Rector Admin is appointed by the Governing Council from among Chief Lecturers in the Polytechnic and serves a term of two years renewable for another final and second term.

The Registrar is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administrative of the polytechnic and performs other duties assigned by the Governing Council. The Registrar is appointed by the Council from amongst Deputy Registrars of the Polytechnic and shall hold office for a period of five years which can be renewed for a final and second term of five years subject to satisfactory performance.

The Bursar is the Cheif Financial Officer of the Polytechnic and is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the Polytechnic. The Governing Council appoints the Bursar for a period of five years which can be renewed for a final and second term of five years subject to satisfactory performance.

The Polytechnic Librarian is responsible to the Rector for the administration of the Polytechnic Library and the co-ordination of the Library services in the teaching units of the Polytechnic. The Librarian is appointed by the Polytechnic Governing Council for a period of five years and can have the appointment renewed for a final and second term of five years subject to satisfactory performance.
