    <div class="ptitle">COUNCIL MEMBER, FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE</div><p><span class="name"><strong>Dr. O. O. Amalaha</strong></span> Born in Enugu, Enugu state on October 1st 1943. Primary education at St. Bridgits Primary School, Enugu. Secondary school at Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi, Anambra State. Started a career at Veterinary School, Vom, Plateau State in 1963 which was disrupted by the Nigerian civil war. At the end of the crisis, travelled to the UK in 1971 to pursue a course in Medical Biochemistry at Middlesex Hospital Medical School, London. Later went to the University of Leeds for an MSc in Biochemistry. Continued to PhD graduating in 1981 in Endocrine Biochemistry. Did a 2yr post-doctoral work at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Leeds.
        Returned to Nigeria in 1984 for lectureship appointment at the department of Biochemistry, University of Nigeria, Nsukka ( UNN). Coordinated Natural Science in the Division of General Studies, UNN, for 2yrs. Two times head of department of biochemistry. Promoted professor in 2000. A Steroid scholar - lectured on Steroids, Cholesterol metabolism and Clinical Biochemistry. Published extensively in local and international journals. Married to Nkiruka Alumanah, a professor of Sociology/Anthropology, UNN. Has three grown up sons. A practising Catholic.  A traditional personality -a high chief (THE UBOH OF ABOH). Retired 2013 but retained as contract professor, only to retire finally in 2017.
